BEATRICE DAILY SUN: Experience a bird walk at Homestead in Spanish

Wednesday, July 17 2019

On Sunday, July 21, 2019, experience Spanish language programs at Homestead National Monument of America. Enjoy a Spanish language tour of the Heritage Center exhibits or a guided bird walk, and a family picnic in the park’s shaded picnic areas. At 3 p.m. we will offer a Spanish language tour of the Homestead Heritage Center. The tour will introduce visitors to Homestead, the Homestead Act of 1862 and its legacies. The bird walk will follow at 4 p.m. starting at the Heritage Center.

“Homestead seeks to connect with our local Latino communities and to bring awareness of our natural and historical resources. Join us in celebrating Latino Conservation Week and World Migratory Bird Day with a fun afternoon at Homestead National Monument of America” stated Superintendent Mark Engler.

Bring your family and don’t forget to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy the beauty of your prairie. Binoculars will be provided during the walk. Come see Nebraska’s birds. People will be able to view birds in their natural environment and learn about them with programs given in both English and Spanish.
