Amapola Macias

Class of 2015

Amapola Macias was born and raised in the central valley of California. She studied abroad in Costa Rica, the “greenest” country to take envirmental related courses. Here she landed an internship with the International Union of Conservation of Nature as a research assistant where she was responsible for the development, research, and design of documents promoting experience based decision making to manage and improve the relationship between conservation and indigenous people in Latin America. While pursuing her undergraduate degree in psychology, she has conducted research and presented at two conferences. In addition, Amapola has begun a research project on inducing cryptomnesia as a means to increase environmental friendly behaviors. She plans to apply for graduate school in the fall to a program with an emphasis on people and conservation behavior.
